The worst fear of Taylor Swift fans has come to fruition: Tool’s “Fear Inoculum” has officially taken the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart, dethroning Swift’s “Love.”
Combining sales of digital downloads, streams and physical copies, Tool’s first album in 13 years racked up sales of 270,000 in its first week of release, Nielsen Music reports.
“Fear Inoculum’s” chart-topping status comes after a week in which fans of Tool and Swift kept a close eye on sales, with a number of the pop sensation’s fans complaining on social media they’ve never even heard of the progressive metal act.
Even if you’re a Tool fan, are you surprised by the album’s success? Why did so many fans remain interested in Tool in spite of a 13-year hiatus?
