Labels Are Forcing Artists to Spend Too Much Time on Social Media According to Mike Shinoda

Would you rather have your favorite artist create new music OR spend their time posting on social media?  This seems to be a new struggle that musicians are forced to deal with.

Mike Shinoda says labels are putting pressure on artists to prioritize their social media channels like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. In a series of Tweets, he said:

“How is a young artist expected to put in enough time to get great at their craft when they need to feed all these content channels? . . .The time they spent generating mind numbing ‘content’ might have been at the expense of the best song they never wrote.”

(Halsey recently complained about this exact thing.)
