Pete Buttigieg’s musical tastes came to the forefront recently after TMZ cornered the 2020 presidential hopeful, who revealed that he would love Phish to play at his inauguration if elected.
Now the Los Angeles Times has uncovered a piece Mayor Pete, then a grad student, penned for the Harvard Crimson, touting Radiohead and Dave Matthews Band in a post-9/11 world.
Buttigieg couldn’t remember exactly what he wrote back in 2003, but when the paper quoted his words, he replied, “Oh, interesting. We all evolve.”
While serving in Afghanistan as a naval intelligence officer, Buttigieg recalled hearing “Happy” by Pharrell Williams often during combat training, which he says, “It was definitely a little unreal.”
Have your musical tastes changed over the years? What do you like now vs then?
