Tickets for Virgin Galactic Space Trip Start at $450,000

There’s good news for people who long to risk their lives flying into the cold, dark wasteland of space: Virgin Galactic has begun selling seats on upcoming space flights. The bad news? The company is charging $450,000 per ticket.

And that’s just the starting price. Virgin Galactic is also offering package deals and opportunities to book entire flights — for considerably higher fees, says CEO Michael Colglazier. He adds “early hand-raisers” will get dibs on their desired seats.

Although the announcement was made after the stock market closed, Virgin Galactic shares climbed 5 percent in after-hours trading.

Even if you had $450,000 to spare, would this be a waste of money? Or do you think a trip into space is worth the money?
