In the middle of working on their next release, Weezer dropped a surprise album of covers on Thursday morning featuring some of the biggest hits from the 60s through the 90s.
Opening The Teal Album is Weezer’s version of Toto’s “Africa,” along with MJ’s “Billie Jean,” ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” and a rocking rendition of TLC’s “No Scrubs”.
Rolling Stone caught up with Chilli from the group, who admits she had no idea the cover was coming but likes it anyway. “When I heard it, I loved it! They did a great job,” she told the magazine.
Perhaps a future collab could take place, with Chilli revealing, “I wanna reach out to [Weezer] and try to make this performance happen!”
Would you be interested in seeing Weezer perform the covers with some of the original bands? Which are some covers that are better than the originals?
