Was the Drummer of The Offspring Fired Over His Vaccination Status?
There’s a lot of debate over whether ALL offspring should be vaccinated…and apparently whether all members of the band The Offspring should be, as well.
The Offspring and their latest drummer Pete Parada have parted ways, because Pete wouldn’t vaccinate himself from COVID-19. And he makes it sound like he was fired. Pete says he has a medical condition called Guillain-Barré Syndrome, where the body’s immune system attacks its nerves. He said his doctors advised him to skip the vaccine, and the band wasn’t cool with that.
The band hasn’t commented…but earlier this year, they put out a video where they reworked their classic song “Come Out And Play” to say “you gotta go get vaccinated.”
And they do have an expert on their hands. Singer Dexter Holland has a Ph.D. in molecular biology, and he wrote his thesis on microRNA in HIV genomes.
The band has also previously talked about how they don’t believe things . . . especially in live entertainment . . . will get back to normal until everyone gets vaccinated. So, maybe they’re just itching to get back on stage, and they thought Pete’s status would become a roadblock.
