Woodstock 50 Loses its Venue in Latest Setback
The organizers of the troubled Woodstock 50 have suffered another setback. A big one. Just two months before the 50th anniversary show was scheduled to take place, the owners of the venue have bailed.
Making the announcement Monday, management at the Watkins Glen International racetrack said they’ve pulled out of their contract with Woodstock 50, saying only the decision is “pursuant to provisions of the contract.” Gregory Peck, one of the festival’s organizers, says he’s already hard at work securing a new location.
The loss of venue is just the latest setback suffered by the festival. The past six weeks have seen similar departures by the show’s original financier and its production partner. It then ran into trouble securing permits from New York after organizers failed to address a number of the state’s concerns. It’s currently scheduled to be staged August 16th through the 18th.
Do you think Woodstock 50 is really going to happen? Do you think the scheduled acts are planning to appear at this point?
